Actor Ruslaan Mumtaaz and wife Nirali Mehta welcomed their first child on March 26, 2019 amid the Coronavirus lockdown. Now according to a report in a leading daily, the two have zeroed in on Rayaan as their baby’s name. “Rayaan means gates to heaven. Nirali came up with this name and we immediately locked it. She was very close to her grandmother who passed away two days before the baby was born. So, she decided to call him Rayaan, opening the gates of heaven for our grandmother, into our lives,” Ruslaan told the daily.
Calling him a "superhero", Ruslaan had earlier wrote on Instagram, “I genuinely do believe that babies born in times when the world is going through a rough patch come here for a reason. So I’m hoping my chota baby is a superhero born in difficult times and in time, will make this world even more beautiful than he already is.”
Meanwhile, Ruslaan had also spoken how he was anxious while driving Nirali to the hospital and handling the situation during the ongoing lockdown. "It was a normal delivery and the baby was born at 4 am on Thursday. Around 9 pm on Wednesday, Nirali went into labour and all of us panicked because we had to rush from our Juhu home to the hospital, which is located at Marine Lines. Due to social distancing, we didn’t take any of our family members with us. We did not see a single person on the road and it was quite eerie. I was scared that we might be stopped by the police, but luckily, nothing happened and we reached the hospital in half an hour.," he had said.
Work wise, Ruslaan was shooting for a film in Karjat but had to return post the COVID-19 scare.
