The alarming spread of the deadly Coronavirus has brought the whole world to a standstill. As the battle against the novel COVID-19 continues, India has been put under a complete lockdown. Termed as the darkest period of all times, 2020 started off on an unlikely note. But, we Indians now have a reason to breathe a sigh of relief. Well, yes. Amidst all the tension and worry, the Indian audience sitting at home will get to enjoy iconic television shows on their screens during the 21 days lockdown. Amongst several re-runs, one is the classic Ramayan starring Arun Govil and Deepika Chikhalia as Ram and Sita.
Now, in the latest development, the three-decade-old mythological show which made a comeback on television on Saturday, has garnered a whopping TRP impression. Ramayan, in four shows over the last weekend, got 170 million viewers in its re-telecast. According to reports, the iconic show, on Saturday morning garnered 34 million viewers with 3.4% rating. In the evening, the next episode had 45 million people watching it with a 5.2% rating. Sunday got even better as the morning episode clocked 40 million viewership and the evening had 51 million people glued to their television screens.

Apart from Ramayan, shows like Mahabharat, Circus, Shaktimaan, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Buniyaad, Alif Laila, Chanakya, Byomkesh Bakshi and Shrimaan Shrimati have also made a comeback on Doordarshan.
