After a long battle against the tumour, Irrfan was laid to rest at Versova Kabrastan by wife Sutapa Sikdar, sons Babil-Ayan and a few of his friends under stringent Coronavirus lockdown rules. Talking about Irrfan's battle against the neuroendocrine tumour, the actor travelled to the United Kingdom for treatment in March 2018. Nearly a year later, he resumed shooting for Angrezi Medium which released on March 13 this year. Owing to his health, Irrfan refrained from promoting the film but sent across an emotional message to fans through a voice note.
