FWICE to appeal for Rs.50 lac compensation in case of daily wage earner's death due to Coronavirus while shooting

Ahead of the coronavirus lockdown in March, shoots of television shows, films and web content were stalled as a measure to curb the spread of the virus. Now, nearly two months later, cine bodies are closely working to frame new guidelines and safety measures to follow on the sets once the industry activities resume. Amid this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) shed light on the security and well-being of daily wage earners. During an interview with a leading daily, BN Tiwari, President of FWICE, told that the association is considering to make an appeal to producers and channels to contribute Rs. 50 lac as compensation in case of the daily wage earner's death due to Coronavirus. Not just this, the family of the daily wage earner should be provided with financial help even when the death is caused due to accidents on the sets. The discussion over the same is likely to take place virtually early next week.

"It is our sole objective to stand by our workers. We will appeal for Rs 50 lakh compensation in case of death due to COVID-19 while shooting. The relief should be provided to the daily wager's family even if the death has resulted from an accident on set," Tiwari told.

He added that the shoot of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain and a few of Ekta Kapoor's shows will start first with minimal crew on the sets. "The television industry will be the first to resume work. Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain and some of Ekta Kapoor's shows will kick off with minimal crew," Tiwari said.
