Bollywood and TV actor Jagesh Mukati, who played the title role in Shree Ganesha, is no more, confirmed Dheeraj Kumar, director and visionary behind the 2000 show. Jagesh passed away on June 10 in Mumbai. He had been reportedly admitted to a hospital a few days after he complained of breathing problems. He was best known for shows such as Amita Ka Amit, Shree Ganesh and the films Mann and Hasee Toh Phasee.
Sharing his grief over the passing of Jagesh, Dheeraj told a news agency, “I can't believe Jagesh Mukati is no more with us. He worked with me 20 years ago as Lord Ganesh for the show ‘Shree Ganesh' and recently we connected again to promote the show. He did mention about being unwell and I told him that he will be fit and fine soon. And suddenly, we have lost him. From the core of my heart and from all our colleagues, we pray to god to give strength to his family to bear this untimely loss and pray to the almighty for the departed soul. Jagesh was a fine human being, fun loving person, very down to earth and a great artiste. His contribution to art in theatre is immense. May his memories linger in our minds forever.”
Jagesh’s untimely death has been mourned by several TV stars. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Ambika Ranjankar who has worked with him previously, wrote on Instagram, “Kind, supportive and terrific sense of humour... gone too soon...May your soul attain sadgati. Om Shanti. Jagesh, you’ll be missed dear friend.”
Marathi actor Abhishek Bhalerao also expressed his grief in a tweet and sent support to Jagesh’s 81-year-old mother.

Cine And TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) also shared its condolences over the actor’s death. Jagesh was CINTAA’s member since December 2008.

Jagesh had also worked in a few Gujarati shows besides doing Hindi television serials. His serial Shree Ganesh is enjoying a re-run on Star Plus currently.
