In the past three months of the nationwide lockdown, the television industry in India incurred major losses. With no shoots taking place, work had come to a crashing standstill. As a result, several actors are facing financial problems due to the non-payment of dues by producers. Amid this, two budding actors Manmeet Grewal and Preksha Mehta committed suicide and the crew of the now off-air show Hamari Bahu Silk are struggling with their outstanding payments. Talking about this situation, Erica Fernandes, during an interview with an entertainment portal, revealed that she faced such an issue initially. The Kasautii Zindagii Kay actress further told that she received them after the producers got funds to pay her.
"If you go to see, everyone was stuck in the initial few months. I did not receive payments so I could not do payments. So, that is the case with everyone else because nobody was receiving payments to give. I also had to make a few payments too but I was not able to because I had no funds. That was the same case with producers, they did not have it initially but once they had, they gave us," Erica told.
Erica, during the same interview, said that she isn't ready to resume shooting right now. Stating that she is hesitant to get back on sets currently, Erica felt she will be ready after a while. "It’s not a simple question of yes or no. There is a lot to it. People have been out of work for a very long time. Some do not have the luxury of making a choice if they should get back to work or not. But, if you personally ask me, I am not up for it, not now at least, maybe a little later yes, and this is due to multiple reasons," she said.
