Veteran television and film actor Anupam Shyam is currently admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for kidney infection. Soon after, the actor's family appealed to the entertainment industry for financial assistance amid COVID-19 lockdown. Now, days later, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an assistance of Rs 20 lakh for the 62-year-old actor's treatment. The Chief Minister's Office issued a statement confirming the same.
"UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed senior officers to extend all possible support to TV actor Anupam Shyam Ojha who is unwell & undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. Ojha is a native of Pratapgarh district," the statement from the Chief Minister's office was quoted by a media agency.

Talking about Anupam Shyam, he was reportedly undergoing dialysis at Apex Kidney Care in Malad when he collapsed during dialysis. He was then shifted to Lifeline Hospital in Goregaon on July 27. The family then reached out to Salman Khan's organisation-Being Human along with Manoj Bajpayee and other Bollywood celebrities. Manoj, soon after, called then up and assured he will look into the matter. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who has been helping those in need amid the pandemic, extended his helping hand and is in constant touch with Anupam Shyam's family.
Anupam Shyam is known for his work in films like Dil Se, Lagaan, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Slumdog Millionaire, Bandit Queen and others. He was seen in television shows like Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Krishna Chali London and many others.
