Birthday Special: When Barun Sobti talked about being away from social media and reuniting with Sanaya Irani for another season of 'Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon'

Barun Sobti is one of the most popular stars in the television industry and also one of the most talented ones. He became a household name with his role of the serious, but good-hearted Arnav Singh Raizada in the hit television series, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?. Barun won a lot of fans and admirers with his performance in the show. Barun made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with the film Main Aur Mr. Riight, a romantic comedy opposite Shenaz Treasury. He went on to gain the love and appreciation of the audience with his performances in various shows and films. He recently Sobti recently played Nikhil Nair in the Voot original series Asur that was applauded by the viewers.

Today, as the actor turns 36, here's revisiting his exclusive interview with PeepingMoon where he opened up about his show Asur, working with Arshad Warsi, being away from social media and reuniting with Sanaya Irani for another season of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon.

Talking about his character from Asur and how difficult it was to enact such a complex role, Barun had said, “It does take a lot of investment. I loved the character when I heard the script. There was a lot of investment on how to chart out my character and it took us some time to get in the groove and it did take a toll on me. However, I think I got lucky to get the opportunity.

Barun also spoke highly of Arshad with whom he shares screen space in Asur and said, “He is a fabulous actor. We did not even speak before we started shooting. We went for a couple of readings and that's it. The whole cast was so phenomenal. Everyone did their job really really well.”

When we asked him his reason of abstaining from the social media platforms he said, “When all these things started with Orkut, the people I had wanted to be in touch with had my number and we used to interact. But now everything has blown out of proportion, so I was late in the game and that’s it. I don’t think people know how to utilize it very well and it is a very powerful tool.”

Talking about pairing up again with Sanaya, he said, “An actor can perform if the script is good. The script of the first season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was phenomenal and it was very easy to do work with Sanaya who is a great actress. So yeah, I would be happy to reunite with her.”
