Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely demise jotted Bollywood and television industry from its core. The 34-year-old actor died by suicide on June 14 in Mumbai. As his family, friends and fans are reeling under the shock, Ankita Lokhande paid a heartfelt tribute to her former boyfriend during an award show. Ankita and Sushant starred in the popular daily soap Pavitra Rishta.
The video of Ankita's performance was released on Instagram. The clip started with dancers who showcased what Mumbai meant to many youngsters who move to the city to try their luck. Ankita, dressed in her Pavitra Rishta avatar, danced to Saathiya Tune Kya Kiya followed by the TV show's theme song. Remembering Sushant, she danced to his hit songs with her stage partner.
Usha Nadkarni, who played the role of Sushant's mother in Pavitra Rishta, got emotional as she spoke about him. Holding her tears back, the veteran Hindi and Marathi film/TV actress said, "On screen mera Manav shant aur susheel tha. Off screen, badmash aur natkhat. Pehle pehle usne mere saath bahot masti ki, mujhe bahot gussa aata tha. Lekin baad mein, main bhi uske saath masti karne lagi. Aaj bhi mere dil mein mera Manav basta hai. Sahi mayene mein, yeh hamara pavitra rishta tha."
After all dance performances, Ankita came on the stage and paid a heartfelt tribute to Sushant with a note. "Aaj har dil shant hai, kyunki har dil mein Sushant hai. Kabhi socha nahin tha, woh joh har dum chand taaron ki baatein karta tha, woh ek din, khud chand taaron se baat karne chalaa jayega. Kabhi socha nahin tha, ki jisse dekh kar auron ne sapne dekhna seekha, ek dinn usse dekh paana sapna bann jayega. Sushant, aaj aap ko yaad kar raha hai, aap ke kutumb ka har rishta, kyunki aap ka aur hamara pavitra rishta nahin, amar rishta hai. Maine kabhi nahin socha tha ki yeh dinn aayega, aur main yeh sab bolungi. We miss you Sushant, we miss you. Thank you," Ankita said as she and the audience got emotional.
