The popular TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! is finally getting its new Anita Bhabhi aka Gori Mem in Nehha Pendse. Nehha will step into the shoes of Saumya Tandon who played the character before. Saumya quit the show in August last year after being a part of it for five years. She cited monotony and the wish to grow as an artiste the prime reasons for her bidding adieu to the show.
Saumya told a leading daily, “Well, you can say that it’s an impractical decision to quit a stable job, that too, in an established show. But I realised that being employed and earning a regular income was not exciting enough anymore. The desire to grow as an artiste was intense – I want to do projects where there is scope for growth.”
She acknowledged that the hugely popular show contributed to her growth as an actor and said, “I had a beautiful journey on ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!’. However, I have played this character for five years now, and I don’t see myself doing it for another five years.”
Reportedly, the shows makers – Binaifer and Sanjay Kohli had approached Nehha for Saumya’s role when the latter quit but things had not materialized then and they had started approaching other actresses. However, four months later they reconnected and Nehha came on board. As per reports, Nehha is expected to start the shoot for the TV series soon. Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! also features Shubhangi Atre, Rohitash Gaud and Aasif Sheikh playing the central characters.
