Shekhar Suman in a recent interview has said that he shouldn’t have resisted comparisons to Big B, back when he was described in the press as the ‘Amitabh Bachchan of TV’. Now, in a interaction, Shekhar has said that he skirted the compliment as he wanted to carve his own identity and called himself ‘stupid’ when he reflected back on his folly.
In an interview, Shekhar said, “Amitabh Bachchan is synonymous with anything that is the best in the world. I said 'I have my own identity and I am trying to carve a niche for myself', and I realised how stupid I was. I was getting the greatest compliment."
He further said, “I'm extremely apologetic that sometimes I thought people were getting on my nerves calling me that." Shekhar was TV’s biggest host when his talk show Movers and Shakers used to air. When asked about his remuneration for the show, he evaded the question and said that it should remain a secret ‘until I breathe my last’.
Recently, he had lashed out at a troll who had questioned how he could afford a lavish lifestyle after he shared some pictures of his house. Sharing a screengrab of a news story in which he was described as the Amitabh Bachchan of television industry, he had written, “Ab samajh mein aaya (Do you understand now?)”
