Television actor Rupali Ganguly has talked about her experience with body-shaming after giving birth to her son Rudransh and not being able to breastfeed as she was not lactating. She said that she was judged by elderly women in her neighbourhood for putting on weight.
Rupali also shared that it was her husband, Ashwini, who made her feel comfortable and understand that she is not a bad mother if she cannot breastfeed her baby. She shared, “As a mother, you want to do so much for your kid but it is okay, just being a mother is enough. Stop calling yourself out. When Rudransh would roll out of the bed and hurt himself, I would feel I failed as a mother, I am a bad mother. No, It is only after a while I understood I need to stop doing that. My husband supported me. He told me, It is okay. There is no issue if your son is on that milk powder, don’t kill yourself over it.”
Earlier, in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Rupali had talked about the difficulties she had faced while conceiving her son, Rudransh. Revealing her health problems, Rupali had said, “I had major thyroid issues, so your fertility count does go down. There were issues and I did consult a lot of doctors. My son is no less than a miracle for me.”
After delivering her baby boy in 2015, Rupali had taken a sabbatical from acting. It is after seven years that she has made her comeback into acting with her popular show, Anupamaa.
