On Monday night, actor Karan Mehra was arrested by the police after his wife Nisha Rawal filed a complaint. Nisha, an actress, held a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday evening to share her side of the story. The actress claimed Karan physically assaulted her on Monday night when the entire family was present at home.
After the ugly fight, Nisha's counsel Mrunalini Deshmukh told a leading daily that they are making efforts for an amicable separation. "There is no court as of now except that now there is a police complaint but our efforts were to separate amicably," Mrunalini told.
In the press conference, Nisha revealed that Karan has an extra-marital affair and faced financial problem too. Mrunalini added, "All those facts were within her knowledge but she wants to separate amicably and gracefully and as a lawyer one would suggest that as the first option but certain things went wrong somewhere and that is why all the facts have come out."
Karan, in an interview, claimed that Nisha demanded huge alimony which he can't afford. Reacting to this, the senior lawyer said, "Whatever it is it can always be negotiated ultimately a wife has the right to ask what she feels is appropriate it may be right or not right legally or financially but does not give anyone the right to get into violence. You may agree to disagree that is how matters are done and the left for the court to decide. But nobody can take law in his or her hands."
With violence coming into the frame, Mrunalini said, "We have to see but something that is not acceptable is violence."
