Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, many people across the nation are struggling to make end meets. Amid this, Bollywood and television celebrities have stepped forward to provide help in whichever way possible. From distributing food packets to providing shelter, medical care and other essential commodities, celebrities are leaving no stone unturned to do their bit for society. Now, Shalin Bhanot has joined the bandwagon and recently visited Kamathipura, Mumbai's biggest red light area. The actor distributed ration along with basic necessities to around 100 families.

Shalin shared videos on Instagram in which he can be seen interacting with the women, who blessed him for providing essential items to them. The actor, in his caption, said that Sonu Sood inspired him to take a step forward. He added that during the second lockdown, he wanted to put his "able self to greater good". Shalin said he got numb after learning that the women in Kamathipura "solicit themselves for as low as Rs. 50".

He wrote, "I wanted to get people together, raise funds for them but they always say, lead by example. So I did whatever little I could. Learnt about their immediate needs & tried to help about a 100 families. When I was just about to take leave, some women ran up to me, their eyes moist, they tied their dupatta for a mask, they joined hands & I haven't felt this hopeless in the longest time. I'll try my best but I also need you guys to come forward & help me. I'm genuinely looking for suggestions. Can we try to save our women?"

Shalin was seen in Naagin 4 with Nia Sharma.
