Ekta Kapoor's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was one of her most iconic shows in the early 2000s. Starring Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, Sudha Shivpuri, Apara Mehta and others, the show was one of the pioneers of saas-bahu soaps on Indian television. On Saturday, the show completed 21 years. On the occasion, Smriti, who shot to fame as Tulsi, shared iconic moments from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in a video on Instagram.
Sharing the video, the actress wrote, "We had made a promise ‘Phir Milenge’, a promise we could not keep...21 years ago began a journey which changed many a lives - brought joy to some, annoyed a few but impacted all those who saw it, who worked for it. Thank you for the memories!"
Ekta also shared a video on Instagram and wrote, "Many moons ago, this day changed my life ! Thanku @starplus @sameern @smritiiraniofficial Rajubhai Vipul bhai n everyone associated! JAI SHREE KRISHNA :)"
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was the first Indian daily soap to complete 1000 episodes. It also entered the Limca Book Of Records. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was the longest-running daily soap in the 2000s.
Amar, who played the role of Mihir, quit in 2001. However, due to nationwide protests, he returned. Later, he was replaced by Inder Kumar and then Ronit Roy. Smriti also quit the show in 2007. She was replaced by Gautam Kapoor. Smriti returned to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2008.
