Natu Kaka was in immense pain, wasn't able to gulp, eat or even drink water: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Tanmay Vekaria on Ghanshyam Nayak's demise

Popular Gujarati and Hindi cinema and television actor Ghanshyam Nayak was laid to rest today in Mumbai. On Sunday, he breathed his last at the age of 77 after putting up a painful yet brave battle against cancer. He was on chemotherapy for quite some months and had taken a break from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He played the role of Natu Kaka in the show since 2008. The news of Mr Nayak's death has come across as a major shock to his colleagues.

Tanmay Vekaria, who shot to fame as Natu Kaka's nephew Bagha in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, told a leading daily that Mr Nayak was attached to the entire team of the show. "It's a huge loss for all of us. Not just for me but for the entire team. We all were very attached to him. He was such a nice and pure soul. This is really unbelievable and we all are shocked. He passed away today at 5:30 and his son called me around 5:45 to inform me about it," Tanmay told.

The actor further added that Mr Nayak was in immense pain for the last 2-3 months and he couldn't gulp, eat or even drink water. Tanmay shared, "He was in a lot of pain since the last 2-3 months and I feel now he is in a better place. I would often speak to his son and he would tell me that he was in immense pain and had become cranky because of it. He was not able to gulp, eat or even drink water. He was going through a lot, so in a way now he is in the safe hands of God. May his soul rest in peace."

Tanmay and Mr Nayak's on-screen equation as bhatija and chacha in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was loved by all. They brought comic relief to the show with their banters with Dilip Joshi a.k.a Jethalal.
