The television industry, in the last week, was buzzing with some interesting updates. Not all of them were new announcements and relationship developments. Here's what kept the industry in the headlines!
Pavitra Rishta actress Kanishka Soni opts for sologamy
In the month of June, India saw its first sologamy as Gujarat's Kshama Bindu announced her decision to get married to herself. Pictures and videos from her wedding ritual took the internet by storm. Now, just 2 months later, television actress Kanishka Soni opted for sologamy.
On August 6, Kanishka shared pictures of herself on Instagram flaunting sindoor and mangalsutra. Sharing the pictures, she wrote, "Married to myself since I fulfilled all my dreams my own & the only person I am in love with is MYSELF answer to all questions I am getting I don’t need any Man Ever .. I am happy always alone & in solitude with my guitar I am the goddess , Strong & Powerful , shiva & Shakti everything is inside ME , Thank you."
Currently residing in the US, Kanishka was questioned about her decision. Hitting back at netizens, she reacted, "I know you guys have been raising lots of questions on my #selfmarriage decision, I truly believe in indian culture & here is my POV that why I chose to live in solitude ♥ marriage is not about sex it’s about love and honesty one seeks for & I have lost that faith & believe … so it’s better to live alone and love myself than seeking it in outside world when it’s difficult to find , but thanks a lot for making my post on #google #trending & in #news though ..it wasn’t my intention & also some people said I must have got drunk or have ganja while putting that post but let me tell you that I m so indian by heart that I have never tried alcohol or any other stuff even after staying for long into film industry , it is a decision made by my full heart & soul with full conscious mind & i am happy that I am in USA now & focusing on my career into HOLLYWOOD."
Kanishka has acted in daily soaps like Diya Aur Baati Hum, Pavitra Rishta and some more.
Nupur Alankar quits acting to follow the path of spirituality
Nupur Alankar, who has acted in numerous Hindi television shows, has quit the industry. She announced her decision to quit acting recently. In an interview with a leading daily, Nupur confirmed that she will be choosing the path of spirituality henceforth.
In the interview, she said, "After my mother passed away in December 2020, I realised that I didn’t fear losing anything anymore. I felt free from all expectations and duties. In fact, my sanyaas got delayed because my brother-in-law was stuck in Afghanistan when the Taliban took over the country."
In order to pursue sanyaas, she chose to separate from her husband too. "I didn’t have to ask (him). He knew where I was headed as I spoke with him once about wanting to take sanyaas. He has freed me and his family has also accepted my decision," she shared.
Nupur has acted in shows like Shaktimaan, Tantra and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan, and others.
