BJP member and actress Sonali Phogat passed away on Monday night due to a suspected heart attack. She was in Goa with her staff members, reportedly for a shoot. While reports claim it was a heart attack, Sonali's family members refuse to believe it. Her sister, talking to a media agency, suspected a foul play in her untimely demise. Recalling her last conversation with Sonali, her sister demanded a CBI investigation.
"I received a call from her the evening before her death. She said she wanted to talk over WhatsApp and that something fishy is going on. Later, she cut the call and then didn't pick up. My sister cannot have a heart attack. She was very fit. We demand a proper investigation by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation). My family is not ready to accept that she died of a heart attack. She had no such medical problem," Sonali's sister told the media agency.
However, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi said that Sonali's death was due to a heart attack. "Prime facie, the cause of death is established as heart attack but further medical examination is on. We will form a panel of doctors," he said.
Now, as per the latest reports, Anjuna Police has registered a case of unnatural death. Statements of witnesses were recorded and the Department of Forensic Medicine at Goa Medical College will conduct an autopsy today (August 24).
Sonali, a single mother, is survived by her daughter named Yashodhara Phogat. The politician-actress gained additional popularity after participating in Bigg Boss 14 as a wild card contestant.
