Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has undergone several changes in the cast in the last few years. The longest-running sitcom on Indian television, the show witnessed yet another replacement recently. Shailesh Lodha, who popularised the character of Taarak Mehta, chose to step back and explore opportunities on television after playing the role for 14 years.
Now, Shailesh has been replaced by Sachin Shroff. He was introduced as the new Taarak Mehta on Tuesday. Sachin has been active in the television industry for many years. He has done shows like Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, Balika Vadhu, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann and several others.
Shailesh quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to sign a new project. Despite differences, he would shoot for his monologues used towards the end of each episode. Shailesh is yet to react and reveal the reason behind leaving the show.
In an interview with a media agency, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's producer Asit Kumar Modi said, "Yes, we have cast Sachin Shroff in our show. We wanted a face that is known and connects well with the audience and Sachin had worked in a number of shows. Moreover, we wanted a committed actor and he is the perfect choice for us in that terms also."
Apart from Shailesh, actors like Disha Vakani, Neha Mehta, Bhavya Gandhi and Gurucharan Singh quit the show. The makers had to replace Kavi Kumar Azad and Ghanshyam Nayak with Nirmal Soni and Kiran Bhatt after their demises.
