TV Actress Rashmi Desai recently opened up about her severe financial hardships during an episode of Paras Chhabra's podcast. Rashmi shared that she faced overwhelming debt, spending days on the streets, and battled thoughts of suicide.

Desai, who hails from a modest background, described how her mother worked tirelessly to support the family. Reflecting on her struggles, she recounted a particularly tough period in 2017 when family conflicts compounded her financial woes. She revealed that she was deeply in debt, with no income and a burden of several crores.

On the podcast, Desai discussed how her experience on a show provided a financial lifeline. While the income from the show helped secure her future, she admitted that she struggled with financial planning. Despite the influx of money, she found herself constantly focused on repaying loans rather than building a secure future, lacking a strategic approach.

Desai also revealed the hardships she faced when she fell ill while working and decided to participate in ‘Bigg Boss.’ She took on the show with the hope of earning money to support herself and her family. Desai noted that she was one of the highest-paid contestants of that season.

Reflecting on a particularly dark period, Desai recounted being homeless for four days, sleeping in her Audi A6 while her manager managed her belongings. During this time, she lived on food costing just twenty rupees and came to understand the value of prioritising her own well-being. She described feeling disconnected from her family and friends, who struggled to understand her plight.

Desai’s family never supported her decisions, but she eventually managed to overcome her financial crisis, repay her loans, and take on various shows. Despite the tension and sleepless nights, she maintained a brave face, grappling with the thought that life might be better if she were no longer around.
