Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2020: First with the next, the Gen X show gave us a fresh look at this season's trends

You could not have had a better start! The 29th batch Gen Next designers presented by INIFD zapped the packed house at the opening show of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 at JioWorld Garden, BKC. Dazzling lights caressed the catwalk and the big screen behind, setting the mood for the super show by four young designers.

Akhil Nagpal with his AKHL label was inspired by tensile architecture and art installations with the fishing villages in Maharashtra that formed the source for the surplus fishing mono-filament yarns. Standing out were the multi-weave dress with an impressive train and the geometric maxi with in-built bustier among other garments.

Ananya Modi Jain with her All2Defy label merged minimalism with exaggerated proportions. The bold and vibrant motifs were a merry mix of classic stripes and plaids.

The Chandrima label by Chandrima Agnihotri brought alive the distinct embroidery of the Jat community of Kutch. The intricately crafted off-white jacket caught your attention.

Graine, the label by Harshna Kandhari and Mannat Sethi, was inspired by the kaju katli India sweet. Re-used were discarded rubber tyres that were reworked into embellishments. The Indian sweets’ colours, shapes and textures were recreated on the garments.

Yes, it was a sweet start to yet another season of LFW!
