Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj made her catwalk debut at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 at JioWorld Garden. She was there at Payal Singhal’s show presented by Corcal Bone & Beauty. She looked lovely in a pale blush off-shoulder top and lehenga with appliqué and zardosi work.

True to the theme of #BeautifullyStrong, real women like fashion influencer Mitali Sagar, jewellery designer Shaheen Abbas, actor and anchor Shehnaz Treasurywala and UK fashion Influencer Rohiny Belani walked the ramp.

It was Payal’s collection called Parvaneh (Persian for ‘butterfly), applauding the free-spirited wanderer as she sets off on her quest through life to be #BeautifullyStrong.

Inspired by chrysalis, the transitional state as a caterpillar blossoming into a butterfly, the collection expressed modernism through the language of traditional Indian art.resent-day approach, to create an overall aesthetic that is very India modern and for the new age woman. Modern nuances combined with traditional art in the line.

Keeping the colour story in control, Payal worked first with classic black-and-white and then added strokes of grey, rose pink, powder blue and turmeric yellow. The ultra-glam holiday vibe was evident in the fluid skirts, kurtas, maxis and blouses.
