Sahib Bhatia of label Amaaré called his collection Disguise at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020. It was an ode to the Mbuti tribe from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The fabric chosen was cotton silk as well as wool blends for the range of jackets, trousers, unconventionally styled suits as well as shirts.
Opting for a palette of white, beige and pinks with occasional hints of metallic, the designer set the mood for the coming season.
Closing the show was actor Jim Sarbh in a blush pink, cleverly constructed sherwani with chevron embroidery at the side and back, and the front with vertical stripes.
Kunal Anil Tanna was next in line with his Elementary collection, aimed at wiping the slate clean and starting at the roots with a range of immaculately tailored ensembles. Each outfit had a poised, composed and confident look. It was a mix of simplistically constructed clothing with intricate in-house textures that were relaxed yet trendy in their sensibility.
Showstopper Kunal Khemu rocked the runway in an embroidered oversized blue jacket and a simple black tunic style shirt and trouser.
And the last slot in the 1 pm show belonged to TISA with a trendsetting ethnic menswear collection called Arthya. Blending minimalism with nature, textures, layers, symmetry and tonality, while retaining its balance, each design was a mix of intense detailing.
The showstopper was Amit Sadh looking confident in a stylishly designed ivory, cotton hand embroidered sherwani with floral motifs.
