Putting technology to its best use, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has brought to us the first-ever digital edition of the India Couture Week 2020 starting from September 18 to 23. After Gaurav Gupta’s bang-on start, designer Suneet Varma presented his couture collection which was high on drama.
Called ‘Timeless’, this bridal collection featured a mix of traditional motifs with abstract artworks enhanced by the age-old crafts of India.
Swaying to the tunes of upbeat music, models strutted down the runway in bridal couture that featured bridal lehengas, plunging neckline gowns and sheer drapes.
Elements like voluminous ruffled blouses, scallop sequins, encrusted mirror-work details and embellished embroidery work was quite a prominent part of his collection.
Starting off with popping yellows, the collection inched towards subtle pastels and champagne hues. Soft romantic curls and floral headgears were quite common and repetitive amongst the models.
Varma’s ‘Timeless’ collection garnered mixed reviews from the audience. Not playing with the ‘digital’ concept furthermore, Suneet opted for an old-school fashion show. Nothing wrong with that but there wasn’t anything new to the plate either. High on drama indeed although lacked uniqueness.
No love, no hate…What are your thoughts on this one?
