Sporty and stylish was the statement as day two of the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week closed with the MXS label by Monisha Jaising and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The designer duo made their debut with the aim of dressing up the fashion-forward folks in a vibrant line inspired by the ‘80s disco and street-wear look.
It was a physical showcase at the sprawling and sparkling Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) in BKC.
It turned out to be a feast of fun and functionality along with bursts of bling. The happy hues included sorbet and electric shades, purple rain, Miami pink, neon yellow and UFO green. The fabrics matched the merry mood of the creations as 100 percent silk was juxtaposed with ribbed knits, while polo pique, brushed Luper knit and Lycra added to the variety. And you saw that denim and silk go trendily together.
Keeping body positivity and the element of feel good in mind, the designer duo offered leotards and fashion silhouettes reminiscent from American TV shows like Who’s the Boss, Miami Vice and Three’s Company. Metallics made their mark with minis, sheaths, sack dresses, pencil skirts, cropped jackets and will-power dresses. Casual and relaxed sporty wear, athleisure touches and chic cocktail dressing were on view. Kaftans floated in, while off-shouldered knits with side detailing and buttoned sailor pants added that distinct style. Denim came with stunning shimmer and glitter with fringes, while hoodies with cargo pants and bustiers also caught your eye.
The purple ‘V’ plunged neckline kaftan, red glittering shirt with matching pants and the cape-sleeved jacket with bustier and pants seem just right for a night out on the town. And the final sharply, tailored, white with black pin dots suit was the perfect end to the stylish show by the designer duo.
