Paris Fashion Week 2022: Causing a sartorial storm literally, Balenciaga dedicates its FW22 collection to the ‘fearlessness and resistance’ of Ukraine!

The prestigious runway of the Paris Fashion Week turned into a voice for the social cause on March 6 as Balenciaga unveiled its FW22 collection. Amidst the Ukraine invasion crisis, the luxury fashion house dedicated its latest collection to the war-affected country.

Standing in solidarity with Ukraine, the brand’s creative director Demna shared a message just before the show shared below. He concluded his message by saying that the show “needs no explanation” and that “it is a dedication to fearlessness, to resistance, and to the victory of love and peace.” Alongside the said statement was laid a yellow and blue t-shirt at the venue symbolizing the Ukrainian flag.

The highlight of the show would surely be the Balenciaga caution-taped catsuit, which was also donned by the front row guest Kim Kardashian. The collection saw laced-up HD Sneakers, spiked heels and rounded-toe heel glove boots.

Originally, the snowstorm set was meant to be a statement on climate change, thus explaining the concept of the snowstorm on the runway. "Maybe in 50 years, people will have to go to these places to have an artificial experience of a certain weather condition that we take for granted. But it turned into something else, which often happens with my shows, somehow,"  he told British Vogue.
