6 DEGREE

ROMA AGARWAL

6Degree presented a great assortment of fashion from four talented designers at the gala. Roma Agarwal’s Label ‘Romaa’ unveiled the elaborate “Jharoka” collection at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week. Embellishments were laboriously crafted on the garments as the royal evening wear sported Chikankari and Mukaish work that was seen centuries ago. The fabrics that formed the canvas for the ensembles were a selection of precious silks that further enhanced the look of the collection. It was an exotic medley of lehenga/choli/dupatta trios in gorgeous colours that will dazzle any bride when she wants to pick her trousseau.

Closing the show was the very elegant Nargis Fakhri who looked dazzling in a magenta Kalidar floor-length kurta with lavish embroidery on the hemline teamed with matching palazzos and a heavily embellished dupatta.

SEJAL KAMDAR

Sejal Kamdar’s ‘Galaxies 2022’ line was modern, minimal with earthy aesthetics but rooted in the Indian ethos. Classic traditional silhouettes were given an innovative creative push by adding structured peplums as well as well-tailored jackets, fluid pants, contemporary lehengas, jumpsuits and draped sculpted dresses.

The fabric story matched the ethereal inspiration, as natural crêpe; gajji silk, pure satin, crêpe georgette, Mashru silk, mulmul and organza played a perfect fashion medley. Adding some wonderful eye-catching embellishments, Sejal included metal detailing, Kat-Dana sequins, crystal beads and then completed the look with beadwork to add a subtle sheen. Colours were a symphony of hues with crème, off-white, black, cobalt blue, maroon and red creating a vibrant shade card. Ending the show was the very graceful Divya Khosla Kumar who looked demure in khaki, embroidered, panelled lehenga, ornate choli and heavily embellished poncho.

VARUN CHAKKILAM

Designer Varun Chakkilam’s ‘Recherché’ was inspired by the amazing beauty and geometry in the valley of flowers, which prompted him to present a collection that evoked touches of immense drapery and craftsmanship. There was a grand amalgamation of summer tones as they came together in perfect harmony. There was buff beige, lilac, twilight blue and ombré at the top of the shade card.

The embellishments were as lavish as the collection story, when Kat Dana work vied for attention with glass beaded ornamentation, while special importance was given to liner embroidery and the geometry of swaying florals. The collection offered a wide spectrum of structured lehengas and stylishly crafted cholis that were draped in luxurious layers of festive dupattas. Men’s wear was restricted to white for Sherwanis and short jacket with draped kurta for added appeal. Making a dramatic entry was showstopper Kangana Ranaut in a pale, lilac trio of lehenga, choli and dupatta to end the show.

KEERTHI KADIRE

Keerthi Kadire’s ‘Alezaeh’ collection was aimed at the high-spirited, vibrant, joyful girl of the new millennial who kept her inner child alive and spread the joy of love. Keeping the bridal fun and ceremonies in mind, she brought in an exuberant bouquet of ruffles, florals, in shades of pink and the dazzle of sequins. In addition, the colours were as flamboyant as the designs, when summer hues were added to the palette. The silhouettes were drool-worthy as lehenga, choli and dupatta trios glided down the ramp on the svelte models. Keeping appliqué as one of the favoured embellishments, the designer ensured that it was the focal point of most entries.

Making a stunning appearance on the ramp was Bollywood beauty Pooja Hegde, who glided in wearing a white lehenga/choli/dupatta trio edged with beautiful sunflower appliqués on the hemline and all over the ensemble.

MYNAH’S REYNU TAANDON + NIKHITA

Mynah’s latest collection ‘I M Worth It’ offered a detailed choice for the luxury vacationers and holidaymakers whose moods go through a wide spectrum as they globe-trot around the world. Divided into three colour groups of prints, which were just right for the line of kaftans, tiered skirts, maxis, one-shoulder gowns, and separates, the collection was well structured and offered a flamboyant array of ensembles. The drama came in the form of a cutout at the waist for creation with intense embroidery and a slanting neckline, while the bright fuchsia and white panelled skirt with pleated hemline and tiny summer choli would be ideal holiday wear. Coordinates like the tie-up blouse with matching pants were just perfect for the coming season but it was the tiered, rust, printed skirt edged in white with a matching blouse that created a fashion statement.

Actress Urvashi Rautela glided in to close the show wearing a flamboyant black, floral, printed, flared, tiered long-sleeved gown with white edging and cutouts at the waist.

PAWAN SACHDEVA

The very fast-paced show opened with the very dashing Aparshakti Khurana who strode down the rap in a grey belted suit with black lapels and trousers.

The shade card roster was a subdued lineup in the beginning as ivory and bare tinges of beige gradually moved to grey and finally burst into bold splashes of sun yellow, strong orange and tanned blue. The brilliant orange side buckled jacket and the beige belted kimono-style one were great diverse silhouettes that the designer brought to centre stage. Black and white was the normal staple monochrome, which appeared for a drawstring blouson and a jacket with a black/white striped shawl collar.
