The red-pink setting seemed rich and resplendent enough for the fashion passion that exploded across as Anamika Khanna showcased her collection, called The Experiment, as the finale of India Couture Week 2022, presented by FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) in association with Lotus Make-up.
Instead of a long straight ramp, she opted for a circular ramp at her stylish show presented by Le Cercle by Pernod. Four female models, dressed in red and bereft of footwear, kick-started the show. Yes, barefoot seemed a nice return-to-nature start for experimentation in varied attire. Wondrous white, sombre black, rich red, and delicate lace in ivory, emeralds and pearls were on view as the show proceeded.

Stemming from an extreme need for change and pushing boundaries, this collection is said to be an open field for experimentation. With an awareness of the spectacular Indian silhouettes, textiles and sentiments, the move is to amalgamate something old, something new, treating precious something that always was with reverence, notwithstanding that they may have aged, and an approach of nonchalance to luxury.
The shapes are inspired by the ‘goddess’ paired with deconstruction and pattern-making techniques. There is also referencing the ever-exuberant tribal India, approached with an eye of modernism.
You can’t stage a finale without a showstopper! Actor Rajkummar Rao was the chosen one, garbed in a beautiful black sherwani and sporting a statement neckpiece. Like in casual denim, his ensemble was ripped at the knee, looking like experimentation of casual upgraded to couture, perhaps.
And, at the end of it all, there was a round of applause for the designer … and a round of applause for the round ramp!
