More than two months ago, TV actor Arzoo Govitrikar’s husband approached the Worli Police, alleging that her husband Siddharth Sabharwal her in alcohol-fuelled rage. Now in a recent development, the Dadar Metropolitan Court has given a restraining order to Siddharth and ordered him to not to enter the couple’s Worli home, as reported by a leading daily. The report further added that Metropolitan magistrate RM Karade warned Siddharth to not accost Arzoo, and a copy of the order has been sent to the Worli police station. Additionally, the Metropolitan Magistrate Karade’s ex-parte order, issued without hearing Siddharth's side, noted that the magistrate was “satisfied that an ex-parte order was necessary, as the photographs attached with Arzoo’s complaint prima facie suggested that she had been subjected to domestic violence."
For the unversed, Arzoo claimed in her original complaint, filed on February 19, that she had an argument with her husband on February 15 over his alcohol consumption, after which he “dragged her inside the bathroom around 4 am and hit her viciously”. Reportedly, she also submitted the CCTV footage to the police as proof and said that she moved out of their house a few weeks ago after what she termed was “another round of brutal assault.” Eventually, Siddharth was booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 498A (cruelty), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (insult with intention to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting woman’s modesty).
When PeepingMoon.com questioned Aarzo about Court issuing the restraining order, she wondered how the news got out and refused to comment on the same. When we nudged her further, she pointed out, "I don't have the permission from the authorities to comment anything."
Arzoo, the sister of model Aditi Gowitrikar, married Siddharth in 2010.
