Aditya Pancholi has got some relief in the rape case filed against him by a Bollywood actress. A Mumbai court granted him anticipatory bail on Tuesday. Dindoshi sessions court judge HB Gaikwad accepted the pre-arrest bail plea of Pancholi. Pancholi had denied all allegations leveled against him by the actress.
The Versova police had registered a case against Pancholi under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 323 (assault), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 384 (extortion) in June. The actress had alleged in her complaint that the actor has assaulted her sexually between 2004 and 2009.
She had also complained that he tried to extort money from her and had demanded Rs 1 crore from her for not showing her private photographs to her family and friends and under duress she had paid him Rs 50 lakhs. However, Pancholi’s lawyer Prashant Patil dismissed the claims as ‘vague’ and demanded why was the case filed at such a later stage.
He had also claimed that the woman in question had lied about her age as in 2004 she was not a minor. He had said that her date of birth on her passport is March 23, 1986, and not as of March 23, 1987. Pancholi has denied all allegations against him.
