Fashion designers Ajay Mistry and Thea Minhas have shot down Shraddha Kapoor’s claim that she has never met them. The Haseena Parkar actress made this statement after the designer duo’s fashion label AJTM filed a criminal case against her and Swiss Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., producers of Haseena Parkar, for not honouring commitments made to promote their brand.
AJTM had designed the costumes worn by Shraddha, Siddhant Kapoor, Ankur Bhatia, Danish, Sabir, Kalim Khan, Hazel, Samarth and Amir Zada in the film. In return, these were to be branded in Haseena Parkar and subsequently promoted by Shraddha on TV shows, in media interviews of the biopic, at a fashion event, in a visit to their flagship store, and also on social media. None of which reportedly happened.
Now, in response to Shraddha’s claim that she had never met them, the designers produced proof of the meeting they had with the actress in the form of photographs taken at the costume trials and also Whatsapp messages exchanged between Haseena Parkar director Apoorva Lakhia and them.
Ajay said, “We met Shraddha on September 1, 2016 at her residence with Apoorva, Eka Lakhani (costume designer), Saloni (Eka's assistant), and Janvi (Shraddha's manager). The meeting was to discuss the deal that we had made with the producer and also to get her confirmation. After few discussions, Shraddha accepted all the pointers that are on the contract.”
Shraddha’s PR team also claimed that the complainant (AJTM) does not have any agreement to prove their case. “We started work on the costumes as soon as we got the thumbs up from Apoorva after the second trial,” said Ajay, adding, “after one month of running behind producer Sameer Shaikh (of Swiss Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.), the contract was executed.”
Giving more details of their meetings with the actress and director, Ajay revealed, “We met again for trials on November 12, 2016, with Chintan (dialogue writer), Eka and Saloni at Shraddha's house. During this trial round, Shraddha tried all the outfits and also liked the detailing in the designs.”
Supreme Court advocate Rizwan Siddiquee, who is representing Ajay and Thea, said, “Shraddha has not only met my clients in front of many witnesses but also gave her consent to the obligations to be performed by her pursuant to which the agreement was drawn up with the producer as per film norms.”
He further said, “She ought to understand the serious repercussions of such blatant denials of these apparent facts. A criminal complaint against her by my client is no joke which can be taken so lightly by her.”
Now with all this bag of proof provided by the designers, it is to be seen what Shraddha’s next step will be.Haseena Parkar releases tomorrow worldwide
