The Call Data Records investigation is back in the news. And this time, it’s Ayesha Shroff – wife of actor Jackie Shroff and mother of this month’s 100 crore superstar Tiger Shroff – who spent several hours at the Thane Police’s Crime Branch where she was questioned about illegally sourcing the CDRs of actor Sahil Khan with whom she had a business dispute.
In her statement, Ayesha is reported to have told the Thane Crime Branch that she sought celebrity lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui’s assistance in this matter.
On the other hand, advocate Rizwan Siddiquee stated, "In Ayesha Shroff's matter my role was absolutely limited to the filing of FIR against Mr Sahil Khan and nothing beyond that. Let there be no unnecessary trial by media and let the law take its own course."
Ayesha is the latest addition to the Thane Crime Branch’s investigation into the CDRs racket. Sahil and she started a production company in partnership in 2009 after he split with Negar Khan. But the business didn’t do well. Ayesha is also alleged to have had an affair with Sahil who was then 17 years her junior. While Sahil admitted their relationship, Ayesha denied all rumours about it.
Sahil later alleged that after breaking up with him, Ayesha was asking him to return all the gifts she gave him along with the money she spent on trips where they reportedly vacationed together. In November 2014, Ayesha filed a case against Sahil alleging he had cheated on her and owed her Rs 8 crore. She also filed a defamation suit against him for maligning her reputation.
During the Thane Crime Branch’s analysis of Rizwan’s mobile, DCP Abhishek Trimukhe had revealed that they recovered CDRs of Sahil that were shared with Rizwan by Ayesha. And as per their information, Ayesha allegedly had an affair with Sahil and a dispute between the two led her to procure his CDRs which she shared with Rizwan.
The scandal involves the illegal extraction of call details from private detectives and involved various Bollywood celebrities. While Nawazuddin Siddiqui refuted allegations that he was paying to spy on his wife, Kangana Ranaut – who the police said shared Hrithik Roshan’s number with the lawyer – insisted on a proper investigation before “drawing assumptions”.
