Rajpal Yadav and wife convicted in Rs 5 crore loan recovery case, awaits sentencing on April 23

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav who is known for his impeccable comic timing was on Friday convicted along with his wife in a Rs 5 crore loan recovery case. The Karkardooma court held the actor guilty and convicted him. April 23, 2018, has been set as the date for his sentencing. The case is eight years old when in 2010 Yadav and wife Radha had taken a loan from MG Agarwal (a Delhi-based entrepreneur and owner of Murli Projects) for his Hindi directorial debut “Ata Pata Laapata”. The businessman had knocked the doors of the high court after the actor and his wife failed to repay the loan.

Yadav was even remanded to 10 days judicial custody in 2013 for apparently concealing the facts of the case. The court had then ordered a subsequent attachment of assets of the couple including his bank account in Axis Bank. A company owned by Yadav was also seized. The high court judge presiding over the case has also issued a contempt of court notice against two women lawyers representing the couple. An oath commissioner was also presented with a notice as he had submitted an affidavit in the court with forged signatures of Yadav and his wife.

He had informed the court that he had got a fresh offer from a company that is willing to take up the liability of his loan and claimed that the loan would be paid in 30 days. However, the amount was not repaid.

The actor has done numerous movies in Bollywood and is well known for his comic timing. He has been a part of several hit comedy movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Partner, Hungama, Garam Masala and many more and worked with such bigwigs as Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Govinda, Paresh Rawal and John Abraham.
