BREAKING: Arbaaz Khan summoned in IPL betting case

On May 29, 2018, one of the topmost bookies of the country named Sonu Yogendra Jalan was arrested by the Anti Extortion Cell. He goes by the name Sonu Jalan and Sonu Malad. During the course of his interrogation, many high profile celebrities and personalities were named to be involved in the betting for one of the most awaited cricket event in the country – the Indian Premier League. Amongst the many names, one was of superstar Salman Khan’s elder brother, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan.

Arbaaz has been summoned by the Thane police for having been associated with the IPL betting scam. He has been summoned two days after the bookie was arrested. Recently, the Thane police had kaput a betting ring when they caught hold of the 42-year-old bookie, Sonu Jalan. Two days after Jalan’s arrest, the Thane anti-extortion cell found a diary with phone numbers of over a 100 bookies. A few Bollywood celebrities, contractors and builders contacts were also present in the diary.

Jalan is said to have been associated with betting operations not only in the country but also abroad. He is named as the big shot bookie in Mumbai’s Satta Bazaar. His clients and punters were also in Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. For the local markets, his gang has its associates in Delhi, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana. He resides in Agarwal Residency in Shankar Lane, Kandivali West.
