Poor Arbaaz Khan. The Bollywood actor-filmmaker’s statement to the Thane Crime Branch about his involvement in the IPL betting racket is opening a can of worms in his private life. Arbaaz, even as we write this, is being questioned by Sr. PI Pradeep Sharma of the Thane Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell about his alleged involvement with arrested Dawood Ibrahim Company bookie Sonu ‘Malad’ Jalan in the IPL 2018. According to the police, they have photographic and electronic evidence to implicate Arbaaz in the racket.
But, more than details of his weakness to place heavy bets on the IPL matches, what’s also coming out in Arbaaz’s statement to the Thane police are details of his private life. Like, sources in the Anti-Extortion Cell allege that among other things, Arbaaz also admitted to Sr. PI Pradeep Sharma that his much publicized divorce from actress and model Malaika Arora Khan in May 2017 after 18 years of marriage was a sad result of his betting habit. Arbaaz admitted to having lost over Rs. 3 crore in betting on the IPL. This, he was allegedly not paying Jalan, and the bookie began threatening him with blackmail before the lid on this racket came off.

The IPL betting racket was busted last month by the Anti-Extortion Cell. The police are confident that Arbaaz is not the only Bollywood celeb in the racket. A superstar’s name has been discovered in Jalan’s red diary that is in police custody who has a big film in the making. Another big actor whose private life has gained him much notoriety is also named in the diary. The next big fish likely to fall in the Thane Police’s net will be the big Bollywood superstar who is said to close to fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Sr. PI Pradeep Sharma, a former encounter specialist of the Mumbai Police, will be calling three big Bollywood producers and some financers also for questioning.
