Singer Ankit Tiwari’s father RK Tiwari has filed a police complaint against cricketer Vinod Kambli’s wife Andrea for allegedly getting punched by her at Inorbit Mall in Malad yesterday. Apparently, Andrea alleged that the 59-year-old RK Tiwari touched her inappropriately. The cricketer’s wife had an altercation with the singer’s father and elder brother Ankur Tiwari. Andrea alleged that Tiwari’s father deliberately brushed his hand against her. She retaliated by punching him and threatened to assault the father-son duo with her sandal. The Tiwaris have lodged a police complaint against the cricketer’s wife which has been filed at Bangur Nagar Police Station. However, CCTV footage from the mall has been procured that shows Andrea as the one fabricating the story!

Former cricketer Vinod Kambli told a leading daily, “We were at the Game Zone in the mall around 3 pm when my wife caught hold of an old man’s hand. He had deliberately brushed his hand against her and when she caught him in the act, he pushed her away. Minutes later when we were at the food court, two men, who we assume were the man’s sons, tried to attack my wife. When I told them to back off, they told me, ‘You don’t know who we are’."

On the other hand, Andrea said, “I was playing with my children when this guy took the opportunity to rub his hand against me. Maybe he thought nothing would happen because it was crowded. When I caught his hand, I was surprised to see this old man. He appeared embarrassed because I had caught him red-handed. He appeared scared, and said something in Hindi, on the lines that ‘I cannot do something like this’."

The CCTV footage that has come up shows Andrea hitting a man who clearly walks past her without touching her in any way. He seems befuddled and surprised at the onslaught from the woman whom they later recognized as former cricketer’s wife. Ankit’s brother Ankur who was at the mall with his parents, wife and daughter told the daily, “My father, a retired bank employee, had accompanied my daughter to the Game Zone. My father told me he spotted Vinod Kambli there, and as he was walking past a woman, he blacked out."

He further added, "My father was disoriented after the attack. He couldn’t believe he had been punched, and that a woman was screaming, accusing him of brushing his hand against her. I asked my father to identify the woman, and we realized she was Kambli’s wife. I told them I wanted to speak with them, but they pushed me and hurled abuses. Kambli’s wife removed her sandal and threatened to hit me with it.”

As claimed by Ankur, Kambli threatened the onlookers too who had started recording the incident on their mobile phones. Senior Inspector Vinay Bane confirmed that the Tiwaris have lodged an FIR against the couple.
