Television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, best known for her role in the series Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, said that she is “at home and fine” after she was questioned in connection with the mysterious murder of a diamantaire, Rajeshwar Udani. Police officials grilled Devoleena for several hours at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar police station, three days after Udani's body was recovered from the forests of adjoining Raigad district.
“Yes, I was questioned by the Ghatkopar police in connection with Rajeswar Udani’s murder case. It was a routine investigation, but I am home now and fine,” Devoleena told a leading daily. Meanwhile, PeepingMoon has learnt that Devoleena’s residence in Mumbai was raided on Monday morning while she was interrogated as well.

Police interrogated Devoleena before the arrests were made because as per reports, Udani had spoken to her on the day he went missing and had also met her. In fact, Devoleena left Mumbai as soon as Udani went missing and returned on being contacted by the police. In fact, Devoleena also revealed certain points during her interrogation that helped police arrest Sachin along with Dinesh Pawar.
Sources, in fact, told PeepingMoon on December 9 that Devoleena, during her interrogation, revealed that she was under immense pressure for almost eight months by Udani. Although, the actress did not reveal the reason behind the pressure, but it could be linked to Udani’s sudden disappearance. On Monday, police officials reportedly interrogated the actress to understand the reason behind Udani pressurising her. In fact, according to details made available by Devoleena, sources are of the opinion that the police will be able to trace the reason behind Udani's death.
Rajeshwar Udani, 57, had been reported missing by his family from his office since November 28. The police had registered a missing case and launched a search for him. His mobile was tracked in Rabale, Navi Mumbai before it lost signal. After nearly a week, on December 4, since he remained untraced and the family suspected something amiss, the police registered a kidnapping case.
His driver told the police that Udani asked him to be dropped near the Pant Nagar market where another vehicle came and he got into it. His highly decomposed body, without any apparent injuries, was found late on December 5 and bereft of any identity paper. He was identified by his son from the clothes and shoes he was wearing.
