In a major development in the ongoing high profile case of Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty has been arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Sushant’s ex-house manager Samuel Miranda has also been arrested in the ongoing ‘drug angle’ probe in the actor’s death case. Both suspects were booked under the NDPS act after a raid session at their respective residence.
Showik and Samuel will be produced before narcotics court in the morning. Their medical examination will also be done while they are being kept in custody. Their arrest comes minutes after Showik allegedly confessed that he procured drugs on the instructions of his sister Rhea. As per media reports, he also claimed that she had asked him and Samuel to procure drugs adding that he was allegedly in contact with several drug peddlers.
Earlier in the day, the NCB besides raiding Showik’s and Samuel’s residences also searched Rhea’s car, phone and laptop in connection with the ‘drug angle’ probe in the case. Sources at NCB told media that Showik allegedly met drug peddler Basit Parihar at a football club in Bandra to gain access to banned drugs. Parihar was in turn in contact with another peddler by the name of Sohail who allegedly provided the substances to Showik and Rhea. Reportedly, he supplied marijuana also known as ‘buds’ to Rhea and Showik. Rhea has already been issued a notice in the NCB case and is likely to be summoned for interrogation.
According to media reports, ED has analysed WhatsaApp conversations between Rhea and the others accused in the case regarding consuming weed and Cannabidiol (CBD) illegally since 2017. The investigating team had recovered WhatsApp chats between Rhea and Samuel where both talked about drugs and also mixing it with Sushant’s coffee. The ED has handed over these documents to the NCB which has already registered a case and is probing the case.
