He was arrested by API Sachin Vaze and his team from his office in MIDC after an offense was registered against him on December 19.

For the unversed, Dilip Chhabria is the founder of India's most renowned car modification studio called DC Design, which is known for its forward and futuristic designs. Chhabria is also an avid automobile enthusiast and owns a range of luxury vehicles himself. He has worked with big names in the Bollywood industry including legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

In a press conference, Mumbai Police issued a statement in the case. They said that in March 2017  to May 2017 Rs 5 crore 30 lakh was paid by Kapil Sharma to DC Designs for a vanity bus. However, not much progress was made. Then in 2018, GST came into force and DC Designs again asked for Rs 40 lacs more for the bus which Kapil gave, but once again the order was not delivered. Finally, in 2019 Kapil approached NCRT and they froze DC Designs’ bank accounts. Dilip Chabbaria again approached the comedian for Rs 60 lac but this time the latter refused. Then DC Designs sent an invoice of the parking of the vehicle amounting to Rs 12-13 lac. In September 202, Kapil complained to POW and after a preliminary inquiry today we are registering a case of criminal offence.
