Vasai court sends Pearl V Puri to judicial custody in rape case, no bail granted; hearing on Monday

This morning, PeepingMoon confirmed that Naagin actor Pearl V Puri has been arrested under the POSCO Act. The actor has been accused of the rape of a minor girl and has been arrested for the same. A source confirmed the news to us and revealed that Pearl is under Police custody for 9 days. The actor is accused of molesting and raping his co-star's 11-year-old daughter in his vanity van. 

Now, PeepingMoon has learned that the actor was not granted bail by the Vasai Court. Pearl will remain in jail until the next hearing on Monday. DCP Abhishek Trimukhe had earlier confirmed that the bail has not been granted yet as the order of bail can only be passed by the High Court.

Pearl has been arrested under CR IPC 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21. 

For the unversed, to deal with child sexual abuse cases, the Government has brought in a special law, namely, The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The Act is a comprehensive law to provide for the protection of children from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography while safeguarding the interests of the child at every stage of the judicial process by incorporating child-friendly mechanisms for reporting, recording of evidence, investigation and speedy trial of offences through designated Special Courts.
