PeepingMoon Exclusive: Pearl V Puri's bail hearing to now be held on June 12 by Vasai Court; actor to remain in jail custody until then

On Saturday, PeepingMoon confirmed that Naagin actor Pearl V Puri had been arrested under the POSCO Act. The actor has been accused of the rape of a minor girl and has been arrested for the same. A source confirmed the news to us and revealed that Pearl is under Police custody for 9 days. The actor is accused of molesting and raping his co-star's minor daughter in his vanity van. 

Now, PeepingMoon has learned that the actor's hearing, which was supposed to be held today by Vasai Court, has been postponed. Pearl's bail hearing will now be held on June 12 by Vasai Court. The actor was not granted bail by the court today. Pearl will remain in jail custody until the next hearing.

Pearl has been arrested under CR IPC 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21. 

For the unversed, to deal with child sexual abuse cases, the Government has brought in a special law, namely, The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The Act is a comprehensive law to provide for the protection of children from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography while safeguarding the interests of the child at every stage of the judicial process by incorporating child-friendly mechanisms for reporting, recording of evidence, investigation and speedy trial of offences through designated Special Courts.
