Sanjay Dutt is returning to the celluloid after his jail stint with a father-daughter drama, Bhoomi. However, his call time as an onscreen father will soon extend to Sanja Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmavati.
As per Peeping Moon sources, Sanjay met SLB at his residence last Friday, post he wrapped the Ganpati puja at T-Series office. He was there to launch the Ganpati Aarti song from his film Bhoomi.
Sanjay reached SLB’s house in the evening, where he first did the darshan of Bappa at the director’s house. Later, the two discussed Padmavati at length, in which Baba has been zeroed down to play the role Allaudin Khilji’s father. Ranveer Singh will be essaying the role of the menacing Khilji and what better choice than Dutt to play the younger actor’s father onscreen!?
When contacted, the members from Bhansali’s team chose to remain tight-lipped about the development.
For the uninitiated, back in January 2017, Sanjay paid a surprise visit to Bhansali on the sets of his period drama film. Since then, speculations have been rife that Sanju baba will play an important character in this ensemble cast.
Rumour mill is abuzz that the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor starrer film’s release has been now postponed to April 2018 from November 2017. It is being said that a huge amount of special effects are required and even major parts are left for the main actors to shoot. The 150-crore budget film’s post production work is still left and last week’s FWICE strike further stalled Padmavati's shoot.
“There are no holidays in November and with such an extravagant budget, Bhansali wants to aim a prolonged weekend release. In April, school holidays kick start and SLB wants to encash on that time period. Moreover, it is highly unlikely that the film will be ready by October,” added our sources.
Padmavati also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, who will also be seen alongside Dutt in Bhoomi.
