Twinkle shoots, baby Nitara directs

They’re Bollywood’s ‘It’ couple and they are holidaying somewhere in the Swiss Alps where he brought in his 50th birthday today. But Twinkle Khanna, using all the writing skills that made her a best-selling author, chose to wish hubby Akshay Kumar on social media with a quirky video that has since gone viral.

The actor is the star in the video, as he must be, but the real source of inspiration for Akshay’s performance in it is the couple’s five-year-old daughter Nitara. She is her in a disembodied childish voice ordering Papa to “Show me a happy face”, “Show me a laughing face”, “Show me a sad face” and “Show me a dancey face”. And Akshay, consummate actor that he is, takes direction from his little girl and gives her all the “faces” she wants.
It is this video that Twinkle aka Mrs. Funnybones the bestselling author has posted on Twitter wishing Akshay for his birthday with this message: “Happy happy birthday to my best friend, the kindest man in the world, a wonderful father with the best 'dancey face' and Jeez all that hotness on top of it all :) #HappyBirthdayMrK.”

There are no awards for this performance, of course, but if Akshay deserved one, then our vote goes for the Dancey Face and wild gesticulations that the actor does to indulge his little girl. Baby Nitara’s expression here would have been priceless.  But there’s one thing the couple does not do… and that’s put their kids up for public consumption on social media.

But what comes home from the Swiss Alps is that the family is having a good old time together on Akshay’s 50th birthday. Akshay himself shared the milestone birthday with his legion of fans by uploading the poster of Gold, his forthcoming film being directed by Reema Katgi in London currently, on Twitter. In a cheeky message that perhaps tells the resident writer (Mrs. Funnybones) that he too has a way with words, Akshay tweeted, "Every cloud has a silver lining but with your love, my clouds got a lining of gold. As my age turns gold, here's the poster of a film close to my heart." The film is about India's first Olympic medal as a free nation in the 1948 Games in England. It was held at Wembley Park in London and India won the hockey gold. Akshay Kumar’s Gold will release on Independence Day, 2018.
