“Main apni favourite hoon,” Kareena announced in one of her career’s best films, Jab We Met. And truth be told, she’s pretty much our fave too! There’s not many like Kareena Kapoor Khan and here’s raising a toast to the super qualities that make this birthday girl a topper on our list of Most Adorable.
Telling it like it is… Do you know any other actress who would have the gumption to declare, “I don't want to be mediocre in hit films. I'd rather be brilliant in flop movies.” While most chase success in any form, Bebo is the kind who is determined to stand out, even in a flop. And she does!
Driven and how! She firmly cut through all the fuss that surrounded her pregnancy, with the brusque, “Stop making it (my pregnancy) a national casualty. We are in 2016, not in the 1800s. I'm just fed up of people making it (pregnancy) a death of some sort. In fact, it should be a message to a lot of people that marriage or having a family has absolutely nothing to do with my career.” She sure makes the rules, this one.
No-nonsense, thank you. Under no misconception about what she brings to the table, she shoots, “It doesn't matter whether you work in Hollywood or Bollywood, your brand value is based on what and how much you deliver.” She’s equally blunt about not having to look like a fashion diva all the time – nevermind that she ends up doing just that, without much effort! “My job is to act and not look pretty 24/7,” she sets the record straight. Not that anybody had any doubts on that count!
Fake modesty is so not her thing. Nobody can pull off a statement like, “I'm the only actress who can boast of giving films to other actresses.” (…Except maybe a Rakhi Sawant, but it wouldn’t be entirely true in her case!) Bebo just shrugs and delivers these lines not for effect, but because she actually believes so and sees no reason to pretend otherwise.
Chilling resolve. She is surprisingly easy-going and enjoys life to the fullest. But don’t be misled into thinking she’s a push-over. “If I found out that my man's unfaithful, there'd be no tears, no shor-sharaba, I'd just slaughter him.” And what Bebo decides, Bebo does! Happy birthday, girl!
