Varun’s film won’t carry Sid’s trailer

Like it or not, the names of these two Student of the Year hotties will invariably be taken in the same breath! And that logic applies to their film trailers too. When the trailer of Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 was unveiled, it came with Sidharth Malhotra’s A Gentleman. Naturally, it was expected that the trailer of Sid’s next, Ittefaq would also ride on the shoulders of Varun’s upcoming release, Judwaa 2 Now that this is not to be the case anymore, it has naturally set tongues wagging!

However, there is absolutely no conspiracy theory here but a completely justified explanation. While Judwaa 2 is set to hit the box office this week, the theatrical promo of Ittefaq will be unveiled on October 5. The trailer unveiling has been planned as a grand event, in the presence of the entire star cast of the film. Naturally, the trailer cannot be attached and shown with Judwaa 2.

Those in the know demolish any suggestion of foul play in the fact that the Ittefaq trailer launch is being pushed to later. It was apparently strictly a professional decision taken by the production team and had nothing to do with the personal equation between Sidharth and Varun.

Their personal equation, however, will always be a talking point in B-town. Karan Johar, who has been director, mentor and friend to both these budding stars, admits that the two are not best friends, but they are cordial to each other and also follow each other’s work closely. Karan confirms that there is no foul play in regard to the Ittefaq trailer being pushed. “It was a production call and Sid had nothing to do with it. There isn’t any bad blood between the two actors.”

Despite Karan’s reassurances, with both actors’ films soon to hit the marquee, we bet the competition levels are secretly soaring! May the best film – and student! – win.
