In B-town’s close-knit circles, where more films are snagged over buddy bonding than auditions, this could well be the ‘look test’ that casts Deepika Padukone and Sidharth Malhotra together in a film, possibly powered by mentor, Karan Johar, and designed by Manish Malhotra! The foursome got together at designer Manish Malhotra’s house for some ‘catching up, relaxing time, conversations, laughter, fun times and positivity’ as Manish hash-tagged a pic he shared of the same on Instagram.

Secure in the waves of attention her posters of Padmavati are generating, Deepika looks relaxed, confident and happy. Sandwiched between Manish and Sid, with Karan clearly the binding glue in this cozy li’l scenario, it does appear like a big announcement could lie just around the corner.
Deepika appears very comfortable with the gang, as evident in the video that she shared on her Instagram story, in which she is heard laughing aloud at the title of Karan’s autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy, which will be published in Hindi under the title, Ek Anokha Ladka. Now that is laugh-out-loud stuff, and really should be made into a film asap!

Fact is, Deepika is numero uno on any filmmaker’s list and it appears that Karan Johar would love the chance to direct her in a stunning film that will make audiences sit up and applaud. She has been part of Dharma Productions’ Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which had been directed by Ayan Mukerji. The interest value of a Padukone-Johar combination, however, would be simply irresistible. And, by the looks of it, lucky Sid Malhotra could be part of the grand pairing too!
Karan had opened up recently about how he wakes up with a different idea everyday only to dismiss it as not exciting enough. “I really want to make a movie. I want to be a director again. Because producing movies is amazing and it is satisfying and it is great for the company, etc., but the pleasure you get out of directing a film on your own and putting out your narrative is another thing.”
That happy occasion might just have arrived!
