Trust Shah Rukh Khan to break the internet with a flurry of pictures of him and his leading ladies. Sridevi, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt and Karisma Kapoor… the collage brought in the predictable awwwws and oooohs. More so, when he captions it saying, “Some nights the stars with you shine brighter than the ones in the sky. Thank you ladies for your graciousness beauty & love.”
To the ones who are wondering the reason behind this fantabulous reunion, on Sunday afternoon, the Bollywood beauties gathered in Film City to shoot a song for Aanand L.Rai’s film where SRK plays a dwarf. A special number was shot but was grabbed eyeballs was SRK coaxing Rani and Kajol into taking a selfie with him, even though the two actresses, who reportedly have a frosty equation, were not keen on it. A source on the sets told us that Shah Rukh then told them to do it for the sake of the trio’s superhit film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And finally they agreed.
What we’re also doing is wondering if we will ever see the trio come together on screen like they did in the 1998 box office bonanza. It does seem like a most distant possibility!
Decades later, there appears to be no thawing of the frost between these two cousins and fabulous actresses. In fact, temperatures had dropped a little more when Rani wed Aditya Chopra in a secret wedding in Italy and didn’t choose to even inform Rani’s Mukerji clan back in India.
Even though both actresses are currently in a slower phase of their career, post marriage, the rivalry is yet to dim. If Kajol has her share of iconic performances in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Fanaa, Rani stands tall with Black, Veer-Zaara, No One Killed Jessica, among others. What’s more, both are renowned for their pairing with SRK!
No, there isn’t much love lost between these two cousins, who both turn up unfailingly and serve bhog at the Mukerji clan-organised North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja in Juhu, but apparently steer clear of each other.
If anyone could achieve the impossible of bringing the two together onscreen, it would be Shah Rukh,who remains close to all his leading ladies!
