It’s confirmed! Mubarakan director Anees Bazmee and Kedarnath producer Ekta Kapoor are joining hands and their joint venture will in all likelihood be a comedy. Bazmee, whose Mubarakan in July didn’t do well, is eager to get on with his next film. “Yes, we will be working together,” he confirmed to Peeping Moon.com of his tie-up with Balaji Motion Pictures. But, neither he nor Ekta are sure what they want to work on together. “I have two or three scripts in mind but Ekta and I have to sit together and agree on which one will be the final script,” he said.
Sources reveal that the director of such delightful films like No Entry (2005), Welcome (2007), Ready (2011) and Welcome Back (2015) is keen on making a comedy once again. “Comedy is my forte and if everyone likes the script that I am working on, the audience will have another comedy riot from my end,” Bazmee admitted.
While Bazmee has a history of making clean family films and comedy entertainers, Ekta too has produced slapstick comedy films like Kya Kool Hain Hum, Grand Masti, Kya Super Kool Hain Hum etc. With these two powerhouses coming together, what heights will comedy reach in Bollywood?
Other information coming about the Bazmee-Balaji project is that it will feature a single male lead in a double role. The director refused to comment. “I am waiting for Ekta to announce more details about the film. It won’t be right on my part to share the information alone,” he said.
Sources say Bazmee is in a hurry to finish the scripts he has on hand before he meets Ekta next. But he has time because Ekta is busy shooting Kedarnath in Kedarnath. And after they mutually agree on a script, their (likely) comedy will go on the floors next. It is believed the hero for this film is already in the director’s and producer’s minds.
