With a record of some brilliant movies in his kitty, latest being the much-appreciated Newton, which is also India’s official entry to Oscars, actor Rajkummar Rao has created a niche for himself. So, by setting such high benchmarks where he competes with no one but himself, you expect nothing but best! This time around, however, the actor seems to have missed it. Yes, the trailer of his latest release Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana doesn’t ring a bell at all.

The movie comes across as a typical Bollywood flick, so unlike an unconventional yet entertaining Rajkummar Rao film. In fact, some scenes remind us of the latest Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Shubh Mangal Savdhan. For instance, a love-cum- arrange kind of marriage set up where hero woos the heroine aka Kriti Kharbanda.

Nevertheless, with Indian Civil Services as a backdrop, this love story takes an unexpected turn leaving this couple’s world upside down on the night of their marriage. So, the second half of the promo looks promising with a twist but alas not attractive enough for cine-goers.

Nevertheless, one can still make it to the cinema halls for the performances of the lead actors. In fact, the leading lady Kriti does look promising and so do other supporting actors in the film.

This film also happens to be filmmaker Ratna Sinha’s debut venture, which pretty much explains why it comes across as a regular run of the mill kind of films. So, after watching the trailer, all we say is –‘Is Shaadi par ho sake toh mat jaana’…in other words, one can easily give this one a miss by just catching a glimpse of the promo.
