After sensationally announcing Kesari with Akshay Kumar and Brahmastra with Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt this week, the next big news most likely to come from Dharma Productions is that Karan Johar will be working with Parineeti Chopra soon.
The filmmaker and actress last month met for a shoot on the sets of Farah Khan’s new TV show Lip Sing Battle. They were joined by Preity Zinta. What happened at the shoot is not known, but all four shared some happy and close pictures of their get-together on Instagram immediately after. Karan was seen in a sherwani while Parineeti appeared in a Govinda avatar and captioned her picture “Lady Raja Babu Today!”
The film Karan will be doing with Parineeti is not a regular two-hour-something Bollywood release. It’s going to be 30 minutes long only and will be for Ashi Dua and Ronnie Screwvala who are planning an anthology of four short films based on the theme of love and lust. Karan will be directing Parineeti in a sensuous love story about a woman longing for a lover. The male co-star of this short film is likely to be a leading TV actor.
This is the second time that Karan is directing for Ashi. Four years ago he did another short film for her debut production Bombay Talkies that was another anthology of four films celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema. Titled Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Hai it was about a woman who discovers her husband’s real sexual identity. Randeep Hooda, Saqib Saleem and Rani Mukerji acted in this film. The other directors who did short films for Ashi then were Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee.
This is turning out to be Parineeti’s lucky year. She started off 2017 with Meri Pyari Bindu opposite Ayushmann Khurrana and is now eagerly looking forward to Golmaal Again with Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade. After its release on Diwali, Parineeti will start work on Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar opposite Arjun Kapoor. She will be working with Karan Johar after the 2014 romantic-comedy-drama Hasee Toh Phasee which he co-produced along with Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane.
